This message comes from state health officials who say hospital emergency rooms are noticing large numbers of people looking for coronavirus tests.
They say non-emergencies divert critical staff time and resources from people in need of life-saving care.
People in need of COVID testing are urged to find emergency care clinics, designated testing sites, or contact their primary care doctor.

New York State begins 2022 with a new single-day COVID case record – 85,476. The state’s 24-hour positivity rate is currently 22.24%. The 7-day positivity rate is just under 20%.

Due to the increase in positive COVID-19 cases across Yonkers, officials have announced that all public schools in Yonkers will switch to distance learning for the first week of January.
CUNY and SUNY students must be boosted
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that students need to be strengthened at CUNY and SUNY schools in order to return by January 15. Students must also present a negative PCR test upon return. Teachers must also be vaccinated.
