Guam Air V&V Program: Get Vaccinated While Vacationing in Guam
Guam wants to help you kill two birds with one stone after the pandemic: go on vacation and get vaccinated at the same time.
The US territory located in the South Pacific recently announced its new Aerial V&V program (short for vaccination and vacation), which provides tourists with a COVID-19 vaccine during their stay. According to the Guam Visitors Bureau, the program aims to boost travel to the beautiful island while boosting vaccination rates in neighboring countries.
“This program captures a unique demographic of travelers around the world who are tired of waiting for their vaccines in this pandemic,” Carl TC Gutierrez, president and CEO of the visitors’ bureau, said in a statement. “This will give our tourism industry a shot in the arm with this unique and valuable service, providing more opportunities to get our people back to work and jumpstart our economy.
To participate in the program, visitors must first book a package at a participating hotel. The hotel will then help clients schedule their PCR appointments to ensure they are COVID-free before they receive their vaccines directly to their hotel room. If a guest chooses to be vaccinated with Moderna or Pfizer, the hotel will also schedule the second dose. But remember: with these vaccines you have to wait at least three weeks between doses, so be sure to plan for an extended stay if you choose this route.
In total, the packages include transportation to and from the airport, three COVID-19 tests, vaccine administration, health monitoring and digital immunization records.
To travel to Guam, all international travelers must always provide a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours of boarding their flight. Guests are also required to adhere to a strict seven-day quarantine at a licensed hotel from upon arrival. On the sixth day of their stay, however, guests can take a PCR test and be released from quarantine if it is negative.
Anyone aged 12 or over can participate in the program. See all regulations and participating hotels on the Air V&V website now.
