Drunk driver runs car in motel pool
DENISON, Texas (KXII) – A man has been arrested for impaired driving after driving a car into the pool at a Denison motel.
“(He) went through the wall, fell on the grass and in the pool,” said an extended-stay resident who wished to remain anonymous.
Thursday night, just before midnight, the residents of the Texoma Inn say they witnessed something unusual.
“All I know is I walk out of my door and a Cadillac was in the pool,” Denison’s Jim Davis said.
“It was crazy,” said Carli Harris, resident of Texoma Inn. “I’ve never seen anything like it. (A) 4-door sedan, just through a brick wall.
Denison Police confirm that a man, Chad Boreham, 30, drove a 2006 Cadillac through a brick wall and into the motel’s drained pool.
“If this had been one of those rooms he landed in, instead of this pool, it could have been a lot more terrible,” Harris said.
Jim Davis says once he saw what had happened, he ran to help the three people inside.
“All I did was go over there to see if they were injured and sit them down until the ambulance got here. That’s about all I did. I am sorry for these children. The driver was very drunk, ”Davis said.
Boreham was arrested for drunk driving, and police are awaiting an official toxicology report from the DPS to confirm he was under the influence and what substance it was.
Both passengers refused EMS treatment and no residents were injured, but many say they are still shaken by what they saw.
“Pay attention to your surroundings because it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen, honestly. It was scary to go out and see him. I’m glad there wasn’t any water in the pool and thankful everyone’s gone, ”said Harris.
Crews started the cleanup on Friday morning and say it will be some time before the stage is completely cleaned and hope the pool will reopen soon.
